How I Go About Creating My Adult Colouring Books

I have two different methods of creating my adult colouring books,  I hand draw the designs or I use computer generated images.

With my hand drawn pieces I’m usually inspired by something visually.  I particularly like recreating the traditional Mehndi patterns used in henna painting.

When I start a project it may be made up of several different designs that I’ve seen.  I usually practice the base elements if they’re something new to me before I start my main design.  I never copy a design exactly, as I start to draw my own patterns develop and my piece becomes something unique.  Theses drawings are one off pieces.  Even when I like something and want to draw it again the new piece is never exactly the same.

Making computer generated images can be very time consuming.  There are computer software’s that can produce thousands of different patterns based on just one design.  Choosing which ones to accept and which to reject is the time consuming process.   I usually use my own line drawing as the basis of these designs but I also use line drawings and other images that I find online that interest me.

Whichever method I use I really enjoy creating my adult colouring books.
